(Heer Krimschild). Constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates “1941-1942”, affixed with four side prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field-grey wool liner, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a variant attributed to Rudolf Souval, Vienna, the shield measuring 52.85 mm (w) x 61.84 mm (h), the shield is missing its paper backer and oxidation is visible throughout the backplate, in uniform-removed and very fine condition.
