Germany, Heer. A Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 99 Machine Gun Company Christmas 1935 Commemorative Stein

(Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 99 Erinnerungs-Krug). Constructed of glazed off-white earthenware, the exterior bearing a hand-painted depiction of a transitional Stahlhelm, situated against a backdrop of oak leaves trimmed with a classic Wehrmacht red, white, and black tri-colour border, above machine guns, rifles, and range finders, topped by a unit dedication of “4. M.G. KOMP. GEBIRGSJÄGERREGT. 99” for 4. Maschinengewehr-Kompanie, Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 99, based in “KEMPTEN-ALLGÄU”, all in turn situated above an inscription of “WEIHNACHTEN 1935” for Christmas 1935, with a protruding handle emanating from the side, retaining a pewter thumb piece with a functional swivel hinge connecting to a lid bearing engraved owner’s initials, the side bearing an etched mark of “10/20” for a capacity of one half-lite, otherwise unmarked, measuring 15 cm (w) (inclusive of handle) x 16 cm (h), a superb commemorative stuff issued to a machine gun personnel of a Gebirgsjäger unit which would go on to distinguish itself in Poland, France, the Balkans, and on the Eastern Front during the Second World War, demonstrating no visible chips or cracks, in extremely fine condition.
