Germany, Heer. A Fallschirmjäger Badge, Third Pattern, by C.E. Juncker

 (Fallschirmschützenabzeichen des Heeres). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a circular plate, unmarked but demonstrating all of the characteristics of a third pattern badge manufactured by the noted firm of C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 42.74 mm (w) x 55.38 mm (h), weighing 30.8 grams, a rare example retaining virtually all of its original finish, in extremely fine condition.
