(Post May 1945 manufacture - c. 1970 issue). A lot of three Third Reich exhibition medals, awards, and badges by Rudolf Souval of Vienna, consisting of:
1. A Clasp to the Iron Cross 1939, Second Type. (Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz). Instituted September 1st, 1939. (Post May 1945 manufacture - c. 1970 issue). Constructed of silvered white metal, consisting of a German national eagle with open wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika with a banner underneath dated “1939”, the reverse with a sheet metal hinge, vertical round wire pinback, and rightward-opening flat catch, unmarked, measuring 45.8 mm (w) x 32.2 mm (l), weighing 11.81 grams.
2. A NSDAP Party Badge (NSDAP Parteiabzeichen). Constructed of silvered white metal with white, black, and red enamels, the obverse with a round white enameled medallion bearing a mobile black enameled swastika, surrounded by a red band inscribed “National-Sozialistische D.A.P” in capitalized lettering, with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 24.0 mm in diameter, weighing 5.42 grams.
3. A Horseman’s Badge in Gold (Reitterabzeichen in Gold). Instituted April 9th, 1930. Constructed of gilded white metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak wreath, joined together at the base by a encircled “R” with a central two-wheel chariot pulled by two horses, with an barrel hinge, vertical pinback, and right-ward opening flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 42.4 mm (w) x 51.3 mm (l).
4. A Wehr-Führer-Wirtschaft Badge, constructed of silvered bronze, with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 33.3 mm (w) x 43.6 mm (l).
A fine collection of Third Reich pattern medals, awards, and badges produced after the war by Rudolf Souval, in overall better than extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Rudolf Souval was a predominant manufacturer of medals, awards, and badges during the Second World War. Following the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, Rudolf Souval continued manufacturing certain awards using wartime parts and dies for American G.I’s stationed in Europe.
