Germany, Federal Republic. A Lot of Five Awards, Badges, and Insignia, by Rudolf Souval, Exhibition Examples, c. 1970

A lot of five awards, badges, and insignia, Post May 1945 manufacture - c. 1970 issue, consisting of:

1. A Condor Legion Silver Grade Wound Badge. (Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold). Constructed of silvered white metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel wreath, joined together at the base by a ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 39.1 mm (w) x 44.0 mm (l), in near mint condition.

2. A Lappland Shield Badge (Lapplandschild). Constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised map of northern Finland and the eastern Soviet Union, topped by an inscription of “Lappland” and a German national eagle, with two small tabs on either side the reverse plain, measuring 50.2 mm (w) x 68.1 mm (l), in fine condition.

3. A 1942 Kampfspiele badge, constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse with a partial oak wreath inscribed “Kampfspiele”, dated 1942, with an HJ diamond in white, black, and pebbled red enamels superimposed on the obverse, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, measuring 29.5 mm in diameter, in near mint condition, in near mint condition

4. An Equestrian Badge (Reitabzeichen). Constructed of copper washed bronze, the obverse depicts a laurel wreath with an “R” within a horseshoe at the base, with a central rider on a horse, the reverse with a vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 31.5 mm in diameter, in very fine condition. 

5. A Naval Front Clasp (Marine-Frontpage), constructed of bronze, consisting of a central oval badge bearing a fouled anchor with a series of eight oak leaves on either side, the reverse with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 24.8 mm (w) x 80.9 mm (l), in very fine condition.

Footnote: Rudolf Souval was a predominant manufacturer of medals, awards, and badges during the Second World War. Following the end of the war in Europe in May 1945, Rudolf Souval continued manufacturing certain awards using wartime parts and dies for American G.I’s stationed in Europe.
