Description

(Gau-Ehrenzeichen Wartheland, Museumsstück). Constructed of gilded and silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a blue enamel date of “1939” topped by a crossed plough and sword, surrounding an NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed and blue enameled swastika, the reverse with eight visible clips securing the obverse features in position, maker marked with LDO code “L/58” for Rudolf Souval, Vienna, measuring 53.34 mm (w) x 52.51 mm (h), weighing 46.8 grams, a high-quality exhibition example produced c. 1965 by a noted manufacturer of wartime orders and awards, in extremely fine condition.
