Germany, DAF. A Pair of German Labour Front Werkschar Breeches

(Deutsche Arbeitsfront Werkschar Stiefelhose). A well preserved example of fine quality German Labour Front Werkschar breeches, constructed of heavy black corduroy, with a diagonal-slit pocket per side that is secured shut via a scalloped flap and a black bakelite button featuring the DAF symbol, consisting of a mobile swastika within a cogwheel. The rear has a horizontal-slit pocket with a matching DAF bakelite button along the right side of the reverse. There is an additional pair of matching straps sewn to the inside of the rear beltline (missing the buttons), acting as optional fasteners for a pair of suspenders. Along the reverse is a matching black corduroy pull tab on either side with a metal keeper each for optional adjustment. These breeches are secured shut in the front via a vertical slit with a total of five matching DAF bakelite buttons that are met by reinforced button-holes on the opposing side. The interior is unlined, except for the beltline and the interior of the pockets, which are lined with off-white cotton. The pant leg cuffs have a 22 cm long vertical slit and feature eight pairs of eyelets and a matching period-correct drawstring. This pair measures approximately 38 mm across the waist, with an inseam of 63 cm, and an overall length of 91 cm. This pair demonstrates light wear from material fatigue along the knees, without obvious signs of damage, in extremely fine condition.
