In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
Measuring 210x295mm, better than very fine condition with light scuffing and discolouration, minimal warping, and two punched holes. It is dated to August 6, 1943 and signed by an SS-Obersturmführer and Battery Chief, the name could be Mattausch or Mattausek.
Footnote: Günther Meuser was born on November 18, 1921 in Hagen (western Germany). He was a member of the HJ from 1933 to 1939. Meuser joined the 9th Battery of SS Mountain Artillery Regiment on October 8, 1940, being transferred from the SS-T-A.E. regiment, presumably a training and replacement unit. Between November 1940 and August 1941 Meuser and his regiment were tasked with securing northern Norway. During this time he was promoted to SS-Oberkanonier. From September to mid October the regiment defended a bridgehead at the Zapadnaya Litsa river during the ultimately failed attempt to conquer Murmansk. During the remainder of October Meuser took part in defensive battle east of Kiestinki, Karelia. From early to mid November the fighting had shifted to the vicinity of Mount Gankashvaara. For the next almost two years Meuser would fight defensive battles in Karelia and northern Finland, being promoted to SS-Sturmmann on January 1, 1942, and receiving the Eastern Front Medal on August 10, 1942. He was redeployed on August 4, 1943 and joined Staff Battery III of the same regiment. No further information is available.
