Measuring 210x296mm, extremely fine condition with minimal fraying and folding crease. The letter was sent by Deutsche Vacuum Oel AG (German Vacuum Oil Company) from Hamburg to the Porsche car company, to Mr. Porsche jr., the son of company founder Ferdinand Porsche, also named Ferdinand, known as Ferry. It is dated to October 15, 1938 and signed in blue ink by an employee of Vacuum Oil, his name is illegible. He thanks Porsche for receiving and talking to their engineer Thurn four days earlier, and sends him a brochure about the novelties among the American passenger vehicles of 1938.
Footnote:Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche (1909–1998) was the only son of Ferdinand Porsche, the founder of the Porsche car company. He became an engineer and joined his father at the company in 1931, the year of its founding. Ferry Porsche was instrumental in the development of the KdF-Wagen, the Strength through Joy car. After the war he was responsible for turning the construction office of his father into a world class vehicle manufacturer.
