Gabon. An Order of the Equatorial Star, III Class Commander, by Arthus Bertrand

Instituted August 6, 1959. In silver gilt with red, white, blue, green and yellow enamels, marked with a wreath above the maker mark "A.B. & Co" (Arthus Bertrand) on the loop, measuring 61.7 mm (w) x 73.9 mm (h- inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension), repair evident in the blue enamels on the petals at 2, 4 and 6 o'clock, tiny chip in the blue enamels on the petal at 10 o'clock, on its full-length original neck ribbon, near very fine. Accompanied by a boutonniere of the Commander grade. 

Contained in original case of issue, red exterior with white silk interior lid marked ARTHUS BERTRAND PARIS, creme coloured velvet medal bed, measures 90 mm (w) x 160 mm (h) x 40 mm (d), minor scuffing to the corners, very fine. 

Footnote: The Order of the Equatorial Star is an Order of Merit of Gabon. It was instituted on August 6, 1959 and awarded for personal merit and service to the nation, both civil and military. It has five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
