A group of seven medals, mounted to a black felt board:

France, Republic. A Colonial Medal, Type II, with AFRIQUE OCCIDENTLE FRANCAISE Bar, in silver, full size, glued to board, worn on replacement ribbon, dark patina, in very fine condition.

France, Republic. A Combatant Cross, in bronze gilt, full size, glue mark on reverse has stripped the gilt.

France, Republic. Commemorative Medal for the War of 1914-1918, in bronze, full size, marked A. MORLON, mounted to board via ribbon, wear to reverse, in very fine condition.

France, Republic. Victory Medal, in bronze gilt, full size, marked A. MORLON, glue on reverse has stripped gilt, worn on replacement ribbon which is glued to the board, in very fine condition.

France, Republic. A Medal for War Wounded, bronze gilt with red enamel, full size, glue residue on reverse, worn on replacement ribbon glued to board, enamels intact, light residue on reverse, in extremely fine condition.

France, Republic. National Combatants Association Union Commemorative Medal, in bronze, full size, glue residue on reverse, worn on replacement ribbon glued to board, in very fine condition.

United Kingdom. A 1914-1918 War Medal, in silver, rim impressed 2157474 PTE. L. MONOT. C.F.C., full size, glue and felt residue on reverse, dark patina, worn on replacement ribbon, in very fine condition.

Accompanied by: Two leatherette dog tags, both impressed 2157474 R C CFC MONOT L, with holes for attachments, light wear to each but both remain in very fine condition.

A Union National Des Combatants Pin, bronze gilt with enamels, measures 15.5mm (diameter), the reverse presents a screw post with disc marked DEPOSE, enamels intact, in very fine condition.

A French Infantry Flaming Grenade Adrian Helmet Badge, sheet steel, measures 45mm (w) x 62.5mm (h), strip on reverse for helmet fixture, light wear, dark patina, in very fine condition.

An 1899 French Pay Book with multiple entries, a photo of Monot in French uniform; French identity cards issued by French consulate in Canada (BC and Alberta), Canadian Legion Membership Card, along with multiple other war period and post war period documents relating to Monot and his service.

Footnote: Laurent Rene Mono was born in March, 1879 in Lambesellec, France and enlisted in the French army in 1899. He served in Senegal, Africa from 1901 to 1903 and after further service in other locations, participated in the Battles in France in 1915 and 1916. After being wounded, he left the French arming in 1916 and made his way to Canada to join his brother, Victor (who was serving with the Canadian Infantry Battalion in France and ultimately lost his life).

In March 1917, after a few months as a farmer, he enlisted in the Canadian Forestry Corps. Although it was recorded that he was unable to see out of his left eye, he was considered fit for duty. He served in Canada and England and was medically discharged in August, 1918. He was a member of the Canadian Legion for many years, becoming a life member of the Unity (Saskatchewan) Branch. After residence in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, he died in the 1950s.
