Description
Description
A well-preserved French M1915 Adrian Helmet for infantry, constructed of a magnetic metal alloy shell with a dark blue-grey painted exterior. The crown features a raised dia-stamped magnetic comb secured in place with rivets fastened at the three, six, nine, and twelve o’clock positions. Fastened to the peak of the helmet is a magnetic metal insignia consisting of a stylized grenade, indicative of infantry personnel. The grenade bears raised initials “RF” for République française (French Republic), and the insignia measures 45 mm (w) x 65 mm (h). The lower portion of the shell flares into an outward brim, with the edge rolled back and crimped for a smooth edge. Two sets of dual rivets flank each side of the helmet, securely maintaining the multi-piece structure. A ribbed and malleable non-ferrous metal alloy band fully lines the circumference of the interior, in turn accommodating an original black and brown leather liner with six flaps. Each flap is perforated at the top with an eyelet through which is looped a period original drawstring. Dual side magnetic metal loops retain a period original brown leather chinstrap, adjusted with a single functional magnetic metal buckle. The helmet is fully unmarked and measures 208 mm (w) x 286 mm (l) x 145 mm (h). Issues consistent with age and field use are evident, and include denting and loss of paint to the shell, material fatigue of the leather features, and some interior soiling. The helmet is in an overall very fine condition.
