(Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur, Chevalier). Instituted in 1802. Badge of the order in 18K Gold with a five pointed white enamelled cross with ball finials, green enamelled laurels in each quadrant and centre presenting Marianne with blue enamel surround, reverse centre with cross enamelled flags, measuring 40 mm (w) x 51.5 mm (h - inclusive of laurel suspension with integral ring), eagle head mark on the 6 o’clock tassels, and AC mark on integral suspension, worn on a breast ribbon with large rosette, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by the star of the order, in silver with a five pointed star featuring faceted rays with ball finials and five smooth rays in each quadrant, reverse offers a vertical pin flanked by dual stays, measuring 93.2 mm (w) x 88.3 mm (h), weighs 102.9 grams, marked with a boars head on the pin and the 6 o’clock, light wear, lovely toning to the silver, extremely fine condition.
Contained in original case, a brown leatherette exterior marked R.F. C on the lid, interior in creme coloured silk marked Arthus Bertrand PARIS, with a green velvet medal bed, measures 128 mm (w) x 246 mm (l) x 50 mm (d), scuffing and wear to the exterior, interior cushioning lid loose and will fall out, functional hinge and clasp, near very fine.
