Finland, Republic. An Order Of The Lion Of Finland, Commander’s Badge By A. Tillander with Case

(Suomen Leijonan komentajamerkki). Instituted September 11, 1942. Of silver gilt and enamels, three-piece construction, red enamelled centrepiece with a gilt lion, mounted to a silver cross base, maker marked "A.T." (A. Tillander), marked with the National crown and marked "813H" (813 Hopea = Silver) on the integral ring, red enamels on the silver gilt ring, measures 49.5 mm (w) x 54.17 mm (h), on a full-length original neck ribbon with elastic hook and eye, intact enamels, areas of gilt loss, extremely fine. 
Contained in its original case of issue of a green leatherette with Finnish lion on the lid, the interior silk lid marked A.TILLANDER, moveable black velvet medal bed section for ribbon near the hinge, measures 78 mm (w) x 120 mm (l) x 32 mm (d), functional clasp, discolouration to the lid, remains very fine.
