(Orden del Mérito Naval Cuarta Clase) Order of Naval Merit IV Class, bronze gilt and enamel decoration featuring a fouled anchor imposed on a Maltese cross within a laurel wreath, the central medallion inscribed “HONOR · VIRTUD · VALOR”, mounted to a blue ribbon, the reverse stamped “VILARDEBO Y RIERA HABANA”, measuring 38.2 mm x 45.3 mm inclusive of suspension device.

(Orden del Mérito Militar y Naval Cuarta Clase) Order of Military and Naval Merit IV Class, gilt decoration featuring a five-pointed cross within a laurel wreath, the obverse medallion inscribed “HONOR · VIRTUD · VALOR”, the reverse displaying the Cuban coat of arms, measuring 45 mm x 71.4 mm inclusive of the suspension device.
The first decoration exhibits ribbon fraying, age-related wear, and light oxidation, while the second decoration is without ribbon and shows light surface wear throughout; overall, fine condition.
Footnote: Cuban Naval and Military Merit decorations formed part of the Republican honours system established after independence from Spain, rewarding distinguished conduct and meritorious service within the armed forces. Decorations produced by the Havana firm Vilardebo y Riera are especially sought after for their quality manufacture and distinctive enamel work, representing some of the finest Cuban insignia production of the Republican era.
