(Orden del Merito Naval o Militar por Valor en Combate 3a Clase) Order of Naval or Military Merit III Class for Bravery in Combat, in the form of a Maltese cross with ball finials between the arms, superimposed on a laurel wreath and suspended from an open wreath by a ring and original purple ribbon with horizontal pinback suspension, the crimson enamel centre medallion bearing the intertwined letters “MM” and encircled by the motto “HONOR · VIRTUD · VALOR,” the reverse with the national coat of arms of Cuba, measuring 51.6 mm x 82.7 mm inclusive of suspension device.
2. (Orden del Merito Naval o Militar por Buena Conducta 3a Clase) Order of Naval or Military Merit III Class for Good Conduct, in the form of a Maltese cross with ball finials between the arms, superimposed on a laurel wreath and suspended from an open wreath by a ring and original blue ribbon with horizontal pinback suspension, the blue enamel centre medallion bearing the intertwined letters “MM” and encircled by the motto “HONOR · VIRTUD · VALOR,” the reverse with the national coat of arms of Cuba, measuring 51.6 mm x 82.7 mm inclusive of suspension device, with frayed ribbon.

(Orden del Merito Naval o Militar por Servicios Especiales 3a Clase) Order of Naval or Military Merit III Class for Special Services, in the form of a green enamel Maltese cross with ball finials between the arms, superimposed on a green enamelled laurel wreath with red enamel berries and suspended from an open green enamel wreath by a ring, missing its light green ribbon, the blue enamel centre medallion bearing the intertwined letters “MM” and encircled by the motto “HONOR · VIRTUD · VALOR,” the reverse with the national coat of arms of Cuba within a blue enamel border, measuring 51.6 mm x 82.7 mm inclusive of suspension device.

Footnote: The Order of Naval or Military Merit was one of the most prestigious decorations of the Republic of Cuba and was awarded to officers and enlisted personnel of the armed forces for gallantry, exemplary conduct, and distinguished service. The III Class was presented to company grade officers and was conferred in a number of categories.
