Cuba, Republic. A Group of Six Civil and Commemorative Medals

1. (Medalla por la Alfabetización) Literacy Medal, in gilt bronze, measuring 30.1 mm x 35.4 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse depicting the stylized lamp, book, and mountain motif with the inscription “alfabetización,” the reverse displaying the Cuban coat of arms with the inscription “REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – CONSEJO DE ESTADO,” suspended from its original green, white, and red ribbon with its ribbon bar present.

2. (Distinción “Álvaro Barba Machado”) Álvaro Barba Machado Distinction, in gilt bronze, measuring 30.3 mm x 34.6 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse bearing the portrait of Álvaro Barba Machado with his name above, the reverse plain as issued, suspended from its original green ribbon with brown central stripes with its ribbon bar present.

3. (Distinción “Ramón Antonio Briones Montoto”) Ramón Antonio Briones Montoto Distinction, in silvered bronze, measuring 30.2 mm x 35.4 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse showing the bust of Ramón Antonio Briones Montoto with his name surrounding, the reverse displaying the Cuban coat of arms with the inscription “REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – CONSEJO DE ESTADO,” suspended from its original light-green and white striped ribbon with its ribbon bar present.

4. (Medalla XX Aniversario, Batallón 111 del MNR) 20th Anniversary Medal of MNR Battalion 111, in silvered and enameled metal, measuring 38.8 mm x 42.2 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse featuring the light-blue field with crossed rifle and cap emblem and the inscription “MNR BON 111 XX ANIVERSARIO,” the reverse plain as issued, suspended from a laurel-bar suspension with its small companion badge present.

5. (Medalla “Ignacio Agramonte”, Tercera Clase) Ignacio Agramonte Medal, Third Class, in bronze, measuring 30.2 mm x 35.5 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse depicting Ignacio Agramonte in high relief, the reverse with the Cuban coat of arms and the inscription “REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – CONSEJO DE ESTADO,” suspended from its original olive-green ribbon with central white stripe with its ribbon bar present.

6. (Distinción “Constructor de Obras Nucleares”, V) Nuclear Works Constructor Distinction, Five-Year Award, in silvered bronze, measuring 30.1 mm x 35 mm including the suspension ring, the obverse bearing the atomic emblem with the inscription “DISTINCIÓN V CONSTRUCTOR DE OBRAS NUCLEARES,” the reverse inscribed “REPÚBLICA DE CUBA – MINISTERIO DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN,” suspended from its original cream, blue, and violet ribbon with its ribbon bar present.
