Hardcover, cloth cover with a tartan design, regimental insignia on the front cover in silver-coloured ink, entitled "The History of the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (MG)", by Lieutenant Colonel Richard M. Ross, O.B.E., printed by Runge Press Limited of Ottawa, Ontario, c. 1946. It states early on that the book is dedicated "To all Officers, Warrant Officers, Non Commissioned Officers and men who, at any time, served with the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (MG), this History is respectfully dedicated." The book documents the history of the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (MG) during the Second World War, between 1939 and 1946. It begins with a Preface by the author. The book contains four chapters under the heading "Current Regimental History of the 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa (MG) 1939-1946": I - Mobilization and Growing Pains; II - Life Near the Arctic Circle; III - England; IV - The Campaign (Operation Windsor (Carpiquet), Operation Charnwood (Caen), Operation Atlantic, Operation Spring, At Rest, Return to Action, Operation Tallulah, Pursuit to the Seine, Operation Wellhit (Boulogne), Operation Undergo (Calais), Operation Switchback (Schelde Pocket), Operation Relax (Ghent), Nijmegen, Operation Veritable (Siegfried Line), Operation Blockbuster (Hochwald Forest), Cleve, Operation Plunder (Rhine River), Operation Eclipse, Holland, The Battalion Returns to Canada). It concludes with a three-page Roll of Honour. The book contains 104 pages of text in English, along with line drawn maps, printed in black ink, on a thick newsprint-like paper stock, complemented by six photographic plates interspersed throughout, the photos printed in black ink, on a coated white paper stock, measuring 155 mm (w) x 235 mm (h) x 15.5 mm (d).
