Hardcover, red cloth cover, entitled "History of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment" by Major R.L. Rogers, printed in Canada in 1954 by the Industrial Shops for the Deaf in Montreal, Quebec. It documents the history of the regiment, starting with the War of 1812, through the First World War and finishing with the Second World War. It begins with a Foreword by Lieutenant-Colonel M.J. McCutcheon, the Commander of the Regiment as of 1954, followed by an Introduction and a Table of Contents. It is divided into twenty-one chapters: I - The Lincoln Militia in the War of 1812; II - The Organization of the 19th and 44th Battalions; III - 1867-1914; IV - The Great War of 1914-1919; V - 1919-1939; VI - Mobilization; VII - Service in Canada; VIII - Service in Newfoundland; IX - Training in the United Kingdom; X - Operation "OVERLORD"; XI - The First Fortnight; XII - The Falaise Gap; XIII - The Pursuit into Belgium; XIV - The Drive to the Maas; XV - The Winter on the Maas; XVI - Kapelsche Veer; XVII - Operation "BLOCKBUSTER"; XVIII - Operation "HAYMAKER"; XIX - Operation "ECLIPSE"; XX - Reallocation; XXI - Demobilization. It concludes with eight Appendices, the last of which is the Nominal Roll of Officers and Men who served with the Regiment between August 26, 1939 and January 29, 1946, plus an Explanation of Abbreviations used in the Appendix. The book contains 478 pages of text along with eleven line drawn maps, printed in black ink, on an off-white paper stock, plus a series of black and white photographs with taglines on a coated stock dispersed at various intervals throughout the book, measuring 158 mm (w) x 235 mm (h) x 38 mm (d). It exhibits light foxing on the top of the pages, along with light discolouration on the red cloth cover, the contents of the book remaining pristine. Near extremely fine.
