Canada, CEF. An Order of Danilo Group to Milnn Rojovich, 47th Battalion KIA

Order of Danilo I, V Class Knight, Type V (1893-1918): in silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, First War period issue, likely of Italian manufacture, measuring 40 mm (w) x 61.3 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension; and British War Medal (2015190 PTE. M. ROJOVICH. 47-CAN. INF.), in silver,the  naming is officially impressed. The Order of Danilo I exhibits repair in the white enamels, with contact marks overall, on an original triangular ribbon with hook and eye, the British War Medal with edge nicks and contact marks overall, on a replacement ribbon. Together, near very fine. 

Footnote: Milnn Rojovich was born on December 10, 1890 in Andrijevica, Montenegro. He was a resident of Seattle, Washington when he signed his Attestation Paper as a Private (2015190) with the 6th Regiment, The Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles, on February 19, 1917, in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the age of 26, naming his next-of-kin as his father, Milton Rojovich of Andrijevica (also stated as Andrevich), Montenegro, stating that he was had no previous military service, that he was not married, that his religion was Greek Orthodox and that his trade was that of Miner. During his medical examination, the doctor noted that Rojovich had "slight varicose veins in both legs", otherwise he was fit for service. Private Rojovich embarked Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 28, 1917 aboard the S.S. Olympic, disembarking in Liverpool, England on June 9th, where he was taken on strength of the 16th Reserve Battalion. After training in England for three and a half months, he was sent to France, arriving in the French theatre on September 26, 1917, where he joined the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Centre on October 2nd. It was here that Private Rojovich was transferred to the 47th Infantry Battalion, joining his new unit on October 10, 1917. Eleven months after joining the 47th Infantry Battalion, Private Milnn Rojovich was Killed in Action on September 2, 1918, at the age of 27. He is acknowledged as having written and filed two wills: the first on April 17, 1917 while with the 6th Regiment, The Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles, bequeathing all his real estate to Mike Martin of Seattle, Washington and his personal estate to his father Milton Rojovich of Andrijevica, Montenegro; the second on August 28, 1917 while with the 16th Reserve Battalion, bequeathing all his real estate and personal estate to his father. Postwar, his father received his medals and decorations, which included this British War Medal, while his mother received his Memorial Cross, along with his Memorial Plaque and Scroll. In addition, he was also a recipient of the Order of Danilo I, V Class Knight from his country of birth, Montenegro.
