Description

In silver, reverse center engraved 908113 PTE. R. G. MORGAN. and STERLING on the 6 o’clock arm, full size, light contact marks, lovely patina, near extremely fine.

Footnote: Robert George Morgan was born in London, England in 1896. He was living in Francis, Saskatchewan, when he enlisted on May 16, 1916 with the 195th Overseas Battalion.

Morgan arrived in England in November, 1916 and was taken on strength by the 32nd Battalion. He proceeded overseas at the end of the month, arriving in France on November 28th. In April 1917, he joined the 5th Battalion. He was killed in action on September 28, 1917, while serving with the 5th battalion in the trenches South West of Lens. He is buried in the Aix-Noulette Communal Cemetery Extension.
