Description

In silver, reverse engraved 916904 Pte. T. COTTERELL and STERLING on the 6 o’clock arm, full size, light contact marks and small scratch on the obverse 6 o’clock arm, lovely patina, near extremely fine.

Footnote: Thomas Cotterell was born in Surrey, England in 1890. He enlisted with the 198th Battalion on June 19, 1916. Once overseas, he served with the 75th Battalion.

In early October, 1918, he was evacuated from the field after being shot in the left hip. He became seriously ill and later died from the wounds on October 15, 1918.
