A small medalbar containing a british war medal and victory medal, horizontal swing pin on reverse, measures 73.7 mm (w):
A British War Medal, silver, full size, rim impressed LIEUT. O.E. BRYAN., original ribbon, minor contact on the reverse and rim, extremely fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed LIEUT. O.E. BRYAN., original ribbon, light wear, very fine.
A 90th Infantry Battalion “Winnipeg Rifles” Cap Badge, in white metal, two lugs on the reverse, measures 44.2 mm (w) x 39.6 mm (h), light wear, very fine.
Footnote: Owen Evans Bryan was born in Winnipeg in 1890 to George and Melinda Bryan. He was examined for the war effort in January 1916, in Winnipeg, at the age of 26. At the time, he was a law student. He enlisted with the 144th Battalion, and was transferred to the 52nd Battalion\ in November 1917. He experienced several hospital stays during his services for a machine gun bullet wound to the left forearm, cardiac compensation, and fever between 1917 and 1919.
The machine gun bullet invalided Bryan on August 19, 1918, and he was discharged to the Manitoba Regiment Depot, being formally admitted to the 3rd Southern General Hospital in Oxford on the 27th. He was discharged on October 20, 1918.
Bryan died on May 29, 1946.
