An Original First War Certificate of Service and two Photographs, to Military Cross Recipient Lieutenant Alma Burchill Manning, 66th Battery and 36th Battery, 9th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery, for Actions at Ghir in November 1918 Canada; Certificate of Service (stating that Lieutenant Manning enlisted with the 66th Battery Canadian Field Artillery on March 28, 1916, that he was credited with having served in Canada, England and France with the 66th Battery CFA, the Reserve Brigade CFA, the 9th Brigade CFA, the Canadian Artillery Regimental Depot, and the Canadian Artillery Pool, that he was discharged from service upon General Demobilization on March 17, 1919, that he was Mentioned in Despatches & gazetted on December 28, 1917, that he was wounded on August 9, 1918 and that he was awarded the Military Cross & gazetted on April 2, 1919, the certificate printed in black ink on a linen-based paper stock, 195 mm (w) x 252 mm (h), lightly soiled). Accompanied by two studio photographs of Lieutenant Manning in his Canadian Field Artillery Uniform (black and white, faded to a sepia-toned look, one a full-length image of him standing, the other from the chest up, 95 mm (w) x 140 mm (h) and 103 mm (w) x 152 mm (h) respectively), along with assorted research papers. Very fine.
