A British War Medal, in silver, full size, rim impressed 406482 A. SJT. T. BRYAN. 60-CAN. INF., replacement ribbon, lovely patina, extremely fine.
A Victory Medal, bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 406482 A. SJT. T. BRYAN. 60-CAN. INF., replacement ribbon, light gilt wear, extremely fine.
A Memorial Cross, in silver, reverse engraved 406482 L-Sgt.T. BRYAN, marked STERLING, worn on a segment of purple ribbon, light wear, remains in very fine condition.
A 36th Infantry Battalion Cap Badge, in browning copper, reverse bears one vertical flat prong, measures 46.8 mm (w) x 52.2 mm (h), dark patina, extremely fine.
A Memorial Plaque, in bronze, named to THOMAS BRYAN, measures 120 mm (w), plain reverse, very fine.
Footnote: Thomas Bryan was born in Cumberland, England in 1893. He was employed as a carpenter, with experience with the 44th Regiment, Welland, when he enlisted with the 36th Battalion, in Hamilton on April 16, 1915.
Upon landing in France, he was taken on strength by the 60th Canadian Battalion. He was appointed acting sergeant in June 1916. By April 1917, he was promoted to lance-sergeant.
Throughout his service, he suffered spinal meningitis, a gunshot wound to the left elbow, and pyrexia of unknown origin.
Bryan was reported missing on August 15, 1917, and later confirmed killed in action.
