A First War Medal Bar, measures 100.7 mm (w), horizontal pin on the reverse, consisting of:
A 1914-15 Star, in bronze gilt, full size, reverse impressed 255 PTE. J.R. MACKENZIE. CAN. M.M.G. BDE:, original ribbon, very fine.
A Victory Medal on a British War Medal Ribbon, in bronze gilt, full size, rim impressed 255 PTE. J.R. MAC KENZIE. C.M.G. BDE., very fine.
A British War Medal on a Victory Medal Ribbon, in silver, full size, rim impressed 255 PTE. J.R. MAC KENZIE. C.M.G. BDE., dark patina, very fine condition.
Private dog tag bracelet, engraved 255 J. R. MACKENZIE C.A.S.C.M.T. R-C. measures 195 mm (w) x 24 mm (d), marked on reverse with a boars head denoting silver manufacture post 1838, extremely dark patina, remains very fine.
A For Service at the Front Badge, in bronze and enamels, reverse with a screwpost, numbered 273182, measures 22.3 mm (diameter), light ear, very fine.
Accompanied by a silver crucifix on a brown thread necklace, with an embroidered heart inscribed ‘Place on thy heart one drop of the Blood of Jesus and fear nothing. Pius IX, worn and slightly stained, very fine.
Footnote: John Rose MacKenzie was born in Litchfield, England in January 1887. He was employed as a clerk when he enlisted on January 5, 1914 in Montreal. He served with Borden’s Machine Gun Battery in France. He was discharged in May 1919 due to demobilization. MacKenzie died in 1951.
