A Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, in silver, dark patina, light wear, very fine.
A Ribbon Bar denoting a British War Medal, Victory medal and CVSM Medal, with two added pins on the reverse, very fine.
A Certificate of Military Instruction to L/Corporal J.A. Latimer, dated August 2, 1916, stating his qualification for the rank of Sergeant, creased, light wear, very fine.
A Certificate of Military Instruction to L/Corporal J.A. Latimer, dated May 26, 1916, stating his qualification for the rank of Corporal, creased and foxing throughout, very fine.
A Collegiate Instituted High Schools and Continuation Schools of Ontario Certificate named to Jno A Latimer, dated July 16, 1912, folded, very fine.
A Pay Book, named to John Alexander Latimer, No. 778942, opening on August 20, 1918. Complete with 23 pages, filled with the personal information of Latimer’s service. Heavily creased exterior, pages intact, remains very fine.
A Second War Department of National Defense Certification denoting entitlement to wear War Service Badge numbered 126893, dated January 30 1945, light creases, wear, very fine.
Certificate Registration of Birth of John Alexander, born February 11, 1898, dated January 8, 1940.
A Marriage and Birth Particulars Form of John Alexander Latimer, folded, very fine.
An assortment of newspaper clippings, photos, and paperwork both related and unrelated to Latimer.
Footnote: John Alexander Latimer was born on February 11, 1898 in Sutton Ontario. He enlisted at the age of 18 with the 127th Battalion on February 24, 1916, with service experience with the 12th Regiment York Rangers.
He was transferred to the No. 1 Canadian Railway Troops Battalion on October 21, 1916. He was awarded a good conduct medal in early March 1918. In January 1919, Latimer was demobilized.
Between the Wars, he married Alice Marion Scott, on October 4, 1930, and had two children. During the Second War, he served with the R.C.A.F.
