Canada, CEF. A 13th Battalion Royal Highlanders of Canada Tunic & Kilt Set

While the officer's tunic and kilt are more common to market, this is a period, complete example of the other ranks tunic that is not often seen. The famous Black Watch battalion saw action in the majority of Canadian battles throughout the war and this tunic is testament to this participation, displaying two bullion wound stripes on the left sleeve. The tunic is the 5 button roll down collar pattern with all original buttons, leather collar closure with dual hook and eye, no collar badges were affixed during use, interior in deep green cotton, exhibiting some mothing and period wear, shoulders present C/13 and RHC in brass on a blue felt backing; period black watch tartan pattern kilt, in heavy wool and with interior belt in army green wool, original leather straps; and very scarce is a 1915 broad arrow marked, size S, summer wrap around kilt cover in khaki cotton (an example of this is on page 133 of Victor Taboika's comprehensive work MILITARY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTABLES OF THE GREAT WAR; together with its equally rare kilt cover front panel, overall an extremely fine and rare grouping, museum worthy.
