Description
Hardcover, forest green cloth cover, the text on the front cover and the spine in a silver-coloured ink, with dust jacket, entitled "Canadian Recipients of The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration and The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal", complied and edited by Stephen M. Pallas, copyrighted by the complier/editor Pallas in 1990, printed in Canada by Tri-Graphic Printing (Ottawa) Limited, ISBN 0-9694966-0-5. As stated on the dust jacket: "The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration and The Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal were the first official long service medals awarded to the Canadian Militia. Authorized for issue in Canada in 1901 for twenty years' service, they were replaced by the Efficiency Decoration and the Efficiency Medal in 1932. Awards continued in good numbers for many years after that date with the last one being made in 1965. This book records the over 9,000 Canadian recipients of the awards along with the authorizing General, Militia of Canadian Army Orders. The Warrants and Regulations issued in Canada governing the awards are also included in their entirety." It begins with a Table of Contents, followed by an Acknowledgements. The book is divided into four parts: 1 - Description of Awards (discussing the basic look on the obverse and the reverse of each award, along with the three monarchs (Victoria, Edward VII, George V) used); 2 - Award Warrants, Ordinances and Regulations Issued in Canada (by date); 3 - Summary of Awards (by date, general order, number awarded under each order, total number for that year, running total of awards issued, first for the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration, followed by the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal); 4 - Roll of Canadian Recipients (by rank, name, regiment, and general order, first for the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration, followed by the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Long Service Medal). It concludes with a single page listing References and a Bibliography. The book contains 192 pages of text only, printed in black ink, on a white paper stock, measuring 220 mm (w) x 285 mm (h) x 17 mm (d), the dust jacket exhibiting sunning on the spine and light wear overall, however, the book itself remains pristine. Near extremely fine.
