A General Service Medal with FENIAN RAID 1866 Clasp, in silver, full size, rim impressed Pte. D. Cox, 10th, R. Regt., worn on replacement ribbon, very nice patina, small edge marks from the naming, in better than very fine condition.

Footnote: Private Dan Cox is present on the Medal Roll for the 10th Battalion, which was awarded the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp.

The 10th Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada took part in the defence of the Niagara frontier during the Fenian Raids of 1866. Mobilized in response to incursions by Fenian forces crossing from the United States, the battalion served alongside other Canadian militia units in the protection of strategic positions in Canada West, contributing to the early defence efforts that helped shape the development of Canada’s permanent military forces.
