Richard Thompson (Brother): Canada General Service Medal, 1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. R. Thompson, Lucan I. Co.). David S. Thompson, Royal Air Force (Son of William M. Thompson): British War Medal (LIEUT. D.S. THOMPSON. R.A.F.); and Victory Medal (LIEUT. D.S. THOMPSON. R.A.F.). Un-mounted, original ribbons, light contact, better than very fine.
Footnote: Colour Sergeant William M. Thompson was born on June 12, 1846, is shown on the roll of the 30 man Lucan Infantry Company and listed on page 205 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Sarnia and Point Edward, Ontario from February 23 to June 18, 1866. He is listed on the 1901 Census as being a resident of North Cayuga, Haldimand & Monck District, Ontario, employed as a Agent with the Grand Trunk Railway. William M. Thompson was a resident of Canfield, Haldimand County, Ontario when he applied for a Fenian Raid Volunteer Grant on June 2, 1912. His brother, Private Richard Thompson is shown on the roll of the 30 man Lucan Infantry Company and listed on page 205 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Fenian Raid 1866 clasp. He is documented on the roll as having been posted to Sarnia from March 8 to June of 1866, with an "Attack Expected". The Lucan Infantry Company was part of the 26th Middlesex Battalion. William M. Thompson's son, Lieutenant David S. Thompson was born on October 9, 1895, the son of William M. Thompson and Emma M. Thompson of North Cayuga, Haldimand & Monck District, Ontario, the family's religion stated as Methodist. The younger Thompson later served with the Royal Air Force during the First World War and for his service, was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
