Instituted 1881. Military Division. (1886-1948 Issued). An eight-pointed star consisting of arms composed of clusters of seven smooth rays in silver, obverse centre presenting a stylized inscription with the name of the order on red enamels, surrounding ring in white enamel inscribed by motto СЪ НАМИ БОГЪ (God with us) completed by laurel wreaths below, with gilt crossed swords affixed across the star, reverse with central vertical pin assembly, marked by G.A.S. for G.A. Scheid, measuring 81.43 mm (w) x 81.84 mm (h), minor toned silver, light contact, extremely fine.
Footnote: This Order was founded by Prince Alexander I of Bulgaria, and he named it to honour St. Alexander Nevsky. The Order was awarded by the Bulgarian sovereign to Bulgarians and foreign citizens in recognition of loyal service within civil and military spheres that benefited Bulgaria and the Monarch.
