Description

(Darjah Paduka Sri Laila Jasa Yang Amat Berjasa). Instituted in 1964. Three-piece construction, in silver with deep yellow enamels, designed with a four-pointed star placed upon a faceted circular disk, the centrepiece bearing the Brunei cot-of-arms surrounded by the inscription "PEDUKA SERI LAILA / JASA", measuring 60.2 mm (w) x 60.2 mm (h), on its original full-length neck ribbon with hook and eye. Accompanied by its Miniature in silver with deep yellow enamels, measuring 16.5 mm (w) x 16.5 (h), rosette affixed to its original ribbon, with vertical pinback marked "SPINK & SON Ltd". Extremely fine.

Footnote: The Most Distinguished Order of Merit of Brunei (also referred to as The Most Distinguished Order of Paduka Seri Laila Jasa) was instituted in February 1964 by Sultan Muda Haji 'Omar 'Ali Saif ud-din III. It is awarded for distinguished or meritorious service, in three grades with their post-nominal letters: First Class = Dato Paduka Seri Laila (PSLJ), Second Class = Dato Seri Laila Jasa (DSLJ) and Third Class (SLJ).
