                          Description
(Orden des Heiligen Hubertus, Ordenskreuz für die Schärpe). Instituted on 3 November 1444 by Gerhard VII, Duke of Jülich-Berg. A Gold chain comprising 20 total links, 10 present cyphers in alternating green and orange enamel, each cypher link measures 5.13mm (w) x 8.15mm (h), the 10 rectangular links present a white enamelled decorative border featuring two figures with a deer on the left and a horse on the right, the rectangular links measure 10.47mm (w) x 8.46mm (h), the total length is 191 mm, reverse plain, each link presents two integral rings with thick ring connections, marked on ring with a sword, and a crown denoting German manufacture rom 1888 for gold 585/100 and above, along with a 750 denoting Gold quality, crazing in enamels in cyphers, overall better than very fine condition.
Footnote: The Order is a Romanic Catholic dynastic order of knighthood, which was founded by Gerhard VII, Duke of Jülich-Berg in 1444 or 1445. The Order was founded to commemorate the Duke’s victory over the House of Egmond at the battle of Linnich, on November 3rd, Saint Hubert’s feast day. Throughout the Order's long history its purpose underwent many changes as it fell out of use and was reinstated in 1708, and again in 1808.
