(Militärischer Hause-Ritter-Orden vom heiligen Georg). Instituted 20 March 1729 by Prince Elector Karl Albrect. (1729-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with pebbled and blue enameled arms joined through the quadrants by blue and white enameled rhombuses, bearing a central white and red enameled St. George’s Cross, situated within a pebbled ring, the reverse with eight visible rivets securing the obverse features in place, with a barrel hinge and dual curved vertical pinbacks meeting a mirrored set of rounded catches, maker marked “E. QUELLHORST, MÜNCHEN” for the firm of Eduard Quellhorst, measuring 64.8 mm (w) x 64.7 mm (h), weighing 40.3 grams, the arm enamels demonstrating careful replacement to blue enamels and general restoration to preserve the piece visually, a jeweler-quality example in better than very fine condition.
