A pair of Imperial Austrian medals, including a Military Merit Badge in Silver with Swords, constructed of silver, with a crown and suspension loop connecting to a period original tri-fold ribbon with sword clasp, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Franz Joseph I, the reverse with an inscription of “SIGNUM LAUDIS” (“SIGN OF PRAISE”) within a laurel and oak wreath, with an illegible maker’s mark on the suspension ring, measuring 30.73 mm (w) x 51.63 mm (h), weighing 23.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.

A Military Merit Badge in Silver, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon, the obverse with a rightward-facing profile of Charles I circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with an inscription of “SIGNUM LAUDIS” (“SIGN OF PRAISE”) inside of a laurel and oak leaf wreath, topped by the crowns of Austria and Hungary, the obverse maker marked “KAUTSCH”, measuring 30.53 mm (w) x 45.16 mm (h), weighing 22.8 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in better than very fine condition.
