A lot of two Austrian Imperial Bravery Medals, consisting of:
1. (Tapferkeitsmedaille). Instituted July 19th, 1789. Type IV (1914-1916 Issue). A Bravery Medal I. Class, a round silver medal, with a pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a single repetition clasp, the obverse depicting a rightward-facing effigy of Kaiser Franz Joseph of Austria, circumscribed “Franz Joseph I.V.G.G Kaiser v. Oesterreich”, marked “Leisek” near the bottom, the reverse inscribed “Der Tapferkeit” (For Bravery) within a laurel wreath with banners at the base, hallmarked “A” for “Vienna” on the edge, measuring 40.2 mm in diameter, weighing 18.10 grams, contact marks throughout, in overall very fine condition.
2. A Bravery Medal, I Class, Karl I variant (1917-1918), consisting of a round medal constructed of silver, with a pierced ball suspension and a swivel ring for suspension from its period original tri-fold ribbon with a repetition clasp, the obverse with a rightward-facing effigy of Karl I circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse inscribed “Fortitudini” (Fortitude) within a laurel wreath with banners at the base, unmarked, measuring 40.1 mm in diameter, weighing 25.30 grams inclusive of its ribbon, in very fine condition.
