(Militärverdienstkreuz III. Klasse). Instituted on October 22, 1849 by Franz Joseph. (Issued 1849-1918). A silver cross pattee with red and white enamels; the obverse with a central white enameled medallion inscribed “VERDIENST” (German - Merit), the reverse all in white enamels, on loop for suspension with a silver hallmark for “900” silver content, measuring 30.98 mm (w) x 31.54 mm (h), weighing 17.5 grams, in good condition.
A grouping of two patriotic cap badges, consisting of 1) A German Imperial Patriotic Badge, constructed of bronze, with a horizontal pinback, measuring 28.27 mm (w) x 37.39 mm (h), weighing 9.9 grams. 2) An Austrian 4th Army Campaign Cap Badge, constructed of bronze, vertical pinback, measuring 24.85 mm (w) x 38.97 mm (h), in overall very fine condition.
(Karl-Truppenkreuz). Instituted on December 13, 1916 by Emperor Karl I. (Issued 1916-1918). A zink cross pattee with a laurel wreath between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a pebbled finish inscribed “GRATI PRINCEPS ET PATRIA - CAROLUS IMPETREX”, the reverse depicting two royal crowns, the letter “C”, and “VITAM ET SANGVINEM” along with the date “1918”, on a double loop suspension but missing its ribbon, measuring 29.43 mm (w) x 29.42 mm (h), weighing 11.4 grams, in good condition.
