Buckle in die-stamped gilt nickel affixed to the right end, unmarked, illustrating the Prussian eagle on a pebbled background, surrounded by the inscription "FREISTAAT PRUSSEN", 47.8 mm, belt with a smooth-finished black upper, raw underside, a tab stitched in place on the right underside with six rows of two holes each for length adjustment, emboss stamped "86" on the tab, a green felt protective pad affixed directly to the body of the belt with the tab hanging away from the belt, gilt nickel receiving clip on the left end, held in place via dual snap closures, with leather slider on the belt nearby, remnant of green felt on the reverse, belt measuring 43 mm x 975 mm, crazing and wear in the leather, scattered gilt wear evident on the buckle, better than very fine.
Footnote: From the collection of approximately 900 German buckles accumulated by John R. Angolia, who start collecting buckles, belts and brocades from 1944 until around 1990; most of the buckles were obtained from the American and German veterans; most of these buckles present a core of Angolia’s book “Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich”, published in 2001.
