A Wehrpaß & Documents To The Landschutz Battalion 847 Bamberg

A Wehrpaß, measuring 107x147mm, extremely fine condition with minor scuffing, and two Gesundheitsbücher (health books), measuring 145x208mm, extremely fine condition with minor scuffing and folding crease.The Wehrpaß is originally dated to Nuremberg on June 1, 1937 and includes entries up to 1945.

Footnote: Valentin Reichling was born on September 24, 1898 in Nuremberg. He worked as a headwaiter before joining the Wehrmacht on December 8, 1939. Reichling could speak English. His only award was a Hindenburg Cross.

Reichling initially served in the Veterinary Company 188. Between March 1939 and May of 1940 he was stationed at the Reserve Military Hospital Nuremberg I, however it is unknown if he worked or recovered there.

Between May and August of 1940 he was part of the Fahr-Ersatz Abteilung 13 Genesenden-Schwadron (Driver Reserve Detachment 13 Convalescent Squadron). In August he was also promoted to Gefreiter (Lance Corporal), shortly before being discharged due to chronic inflammation of the bladder. Reichling was conscripted again on May 31, 1944. He was deemed partly suitable for service since he still had bladder problems and had developed poor teeth and gum health. He served in the Kraftfahrer Ersatz und Ausbildungs Abteilung 13 Deggendorf (Motorist Reserve and Training Detachment). On January 12, 1945 Reichling was redeployed to serve in the Landschutz (Homeland Protection) Battalion 847 Bamberg.
