This is a functional pocket watch, manufactured by Karl Travnik of Vienna (10 Erlachgasse 99).The case of this stopwatch is manufactured in nickel-silver, with a nickel-silver crown and with a matching loop attached to the stem of the watch. The case-back is equally crafted of nickel-silver. It features an additional smaller dial at on the bottom with black printed arabic numerals from 10 seconds to 60 seconds, with larger ticks in 5 second intervals and smaller ticks at 1 second intervals. The face is otherwise marked “Karl Travnik, Wien, 10 Erlachgasse 99”. All hands are gilded, and protected by a period original domed acrylic crystal. The watch case measures 49.51 mm in diameter without the crown, and 61.51 mm with the crown. It is windable, and fully functional. The case is crafted in pressed steel with a plastic cutout to read the watch. It is lined in red wool with two spring-like prongs that grip the watch and hold it in place within in the case. The case can be opened via a spring catch with stud release located on its side. Attached the the top of the case is a loop, and in turn to a watch fob, featuring a 65 mm long ribbon. In overall near extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The watch currently winds as it should, and runs undisrupted, however, it is not tested for accuracy. In addition, as the service history of this antique timepiece is unknown, it is recommended that the watch is serviced prior to being used.
