In response to evolving domestic opinion, eMedals Inc has made the conscious decision to remove the presentation of German Third Reich historical artifacts from our online catalogue. For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
This is a broken-off ID tags belonging to one of the allied Prisoners of War of the Stalag IV-B. It is constructed of zink, with two holes, one on each side, and is numbered 155373. The reverse is left blank. The second half of the ID is missing, suggesting that the POW to which this tag belonged to perished during the war. Measuring 60 mm x 20 mm; very fine condition; possibly ground found.
Footnote: Stalag IV-B was one of the largest prisoner-of-war camps in Germany during the Second War. It was located 8km north of the town of Mühlberg, and covered approximately 74 hectares. It opened in 1939 following the invasion of Poland, and first housed polish prisoners-of-war, however, British, French, Australian, American, and Soviet POWs were also housed there. During its operation over 3000 prisoners died due to typhus and tuberculosis. The camp was liberated by the Soviets in April 1945, and then housed German prisoners of war. Between 1945 and 1948, when the camp was liquidated, over 6000 German prisoners-of-war had perished.
