A collection of documents to Senior Lieutenant Bruno Falkenhagen, consisting of:
A promotion certificate, stating that Falkenhagen of the 2nd Group of Training Wing 1 has been promoted to Lieutenant, effective February 1, 1942. The document is dated to Schwerin on March 24, 1942 and signed by a Major General and the Commander of Army District Schwerin.
Two copies of a letter to Falkenhagen’s wife, measuring 210x144mm and 210x158mm respectively, near extremely fine with creasing, folding crease, and a minor hole, and creasing, folding crease, and two punched holes respectively. They are dated to May 22, 1940. It states that there is no news of Falkenhagen’s whereabouts. Since the squadron is not able to properly look after his personal effects, they are sending them to his wife. The document is signed by a Captain and Squadron Leader.
A letter to Falkenhagen’s wife, 2 p., measuring 209x297mm, very fine with light scuffing, folding creases and period repair. The letter is dated to July 9, 1942 and states that Lieutenant Falkenhagen is officially missing in action. He, as well as the entire crew of his plane on which he served as an observer, didn’t return from a mission flown during the night from July 4 to July 5 to Suez, Egypt. The writer expresses his hope that Falkenhagen is still alive as a British POW. It is signed by a Captain, his name is indecipherable.
A letter to Falkenhagen’s wife, Agathe, measuring 210x298mm, very fine with light scuffing, folding creases and period repair. It states that her husband, now Senior Lieutenant, has been located in a British POW camp in Cairo, Egypt, together with his pilot, Senior Lieutenant Werner Busse. The circumstances of them being captured are unknown. Falkenhagen’s wife is asked to tell them if she finds out anything else, especially about the remaining crew members. The document is signed by the same Captain that signed the other letter.
