1 Clasp - FENIAN RAID 1866 (Pte. G. Price, Port Rowan R. Co.). Naming is officially impressed. Original ribbon with pinback, dark patina on the obverse and edges, light contact, with a miniature of same in silver, 17.7 mm, original ribbon. Better than very fine. Accompanied by a Group Photograph of Thirteen People which includes George Price in Later Life (black and white, matte finish, an "X" in blue ink marked below the seated Price, inscribed in blue ink "THE MAN ABOVE THE X IS GEORGE PRICE, FIRST PRIVATE PORT ROWAN INFANTRY CO., THEN CAPTAIN 38 BN. MILITIA. PRICE RECEIVED FENIAN RAID MEDAL WITH BAR 1866" on the reverse, 70 mm x 112 mm); a Handwritten Letter by Price Detailing His Service (in black ink, dated June 5, 1902, 127 mm x 200 mm, fold mark); a Canada Post Card (in handwritten black ink, addressed to "Cap Price St. Williams Ont", from a fellow officer, postmarked Port Rowan, dated September 4, 1876, 77 mm x 121 mm); a Bill of Sale Letter (in handwritten black ink, signed by John Burgess and witnessed by Stephen Price, dated September 5, 1838, 195 mm x 315 mm, fold marks, lightly soiled); a Newspaper Article Entitled “THE KING THANKS VETERANS OF 1866" (with the subheading "Lord Wolseley Expresses Wish That There Were a Real Canadian Regiment in Army", dated 1902, 117 mm x 355 mm); and a Cardboard Medal Shipping Box from the Medal Claims Board in Ottawa (addressed to "Captain G. Price, (39th Regt)", with three forwarding addresses, including Toronto, Waterford and Port Rowan, before finally corrected to St. Williams (all in Ontario), with multiple postmarks in September 1902, red wax seal on the reverse, end panel torn open, 70 mm x 140 mm x 25 mm).

Footnote: George Price was a resident of St. Williams Ontario when he joined the Port Rowan Rifle Company in 1864 (later 39th Norfolk Battalion of Rifles, Simcoe) and was pressed into service during the Fenian Raids of 1866. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1871, then promoted to Captain in 1874 and resigned in that rank in 1896, having served thirty years. Private George Price is shown on the roll of the 25 man Port Rowan Rifle Company and is listed on page 235 of the "Canada General Service Medal Roll, 1866-70" by John Thyen, entitled to the Canada General Service Medal with Fenian Raid 1866 clasp.
