Netherlands: Made in 1854 in silver, capsule-shaped, hand engraved on the lid as well as on the sides and the bottom, date marked "u" (1854), dual guild marked and maker marked "Boers" on the underside of the lid and inside on the base of the box, lid illustrating a harbour scene, with buildings in the background, soldiers firing rifles and waving standards, with peasants scrambling for their lives in the foreground, inscribed "In het Jaer 1748" (In the Year 1748) above, "Het Pagters Oproer" (Peasant Uprising) to the left and "te Amsteldam" (In Amsterdam) to the right, bottom illustrating a street scene, with people taking various items from the buildings in the background and tossing the items into the street, with others at either end of the panorama watching the events with awe, inscribed "In het Jaer 1735" (In the Year 1735) above, "Het Brood Oproer" (Bread Riots) to the left and "te Amsteldam" (In Amsterdam) to the right, the front side illustrating a drummer and standard bearer, with the remainder of the front, the ends and the rear with a repeating diamond pattern, hinged along the elongated edge, 50.5 mm x 175 mm x 33.5 mm in height, light contact and scuffing on the bottom, near extremely fine.
