Rutherford enlisted 17th March 1854. The musters show he was effective from the 1st of October to the 31st December. WO100/24, page 162 Remarks: Sick at Scutari, page 185 Remarks: Died January 27th 1855. WO14/1 Scutari Muster Roll January-March 1855 remarks indicate he joined on the 22nd January and died on the 27th. Importantly, he is listed as a probable charger at the charge of the Heavy Brigade on October 25th 1854 (According to Forgotten Heroes - The Charge of the Heavy Brigade, by Roy Dutton)
