This hardshelled helmet has a light khaki cotton twill covering, the edge trimmed in a strip of light khaki cotton twill, with a khaki pugaree (cloth wrap) around the circumference at the base of the dome, a Gordon tartan placed upon the pugaree on the left side, with a 53 mm x 54.5 mm white metal Highland Regiment pith helmet badge upon the tartan, adjustable ventilation cap on the top, its underlying base in brass, a hole on the front where a badge once resided that has since been lost to time, a two-piece butterscotch-coloured chin strap stretched across the brim, the two pieces joined by a buckle on the right side, with both ends of the conjoined strap held in place via hooks on the underside at the base of the dome.
