Germany, Third Reich. A Fire Brigade Honour Badge, II Class

(Reichsfeuerwehr-Ehrenzeichen II. Klasse). Instituted 22 June 1936 by Wilhelm Frick. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Geneva Cross, the obverse with white enameled arms with stylized flame designs, overlaid by a central white enameled medallion with a black mobile swastika, with a ring through the quadrants bearing an inscription of “FÜR VERDIENSTE IM FEUERLÖSCHWESEN” (“FOR MERIT IN FIRE FIGHTING”), unmarked, measuring 43.67 mm (w) x 48.52 mm (h), weighing 17.3 grams, some flecking of enamels apparent, with evidence of repair to the suspension, in better than very fine condition.
