tank badge "25" in silver grade, solid, very fine condition, together with award document, as a member of Pz.Jag.Abt. 70, in Apr 1945; general assault badge, zinc, maker "Frank & Reif Stuttgart", pin missing, together with award document, as a member of Sturm-Gesch.189, in Aug 1943; Iron Cross First Class 1939, maker "L/11", magnetic, together with award document, Jan 1944; Iron Cross Second Class 1939, together with award document, as a member of Sturm-Gesch.189, in Aug 1943; Wound badge in silver grade, tombac, maker "30", together with award document, as a member of Sturm-Gesch.189, in Oct 1943; Wound badge in black grade, tombac, together with award document, as a member of Sturm-Gesch.189, in Jun 1943; all awards in generally very fine condition, documents folded, showing age, in very good to fine condition.   Footnote: Fraatz was a member of the 189th Assault Gun Division, formed on July 10th, 1941 in Jueterbog. On August 1941, his division was moved to Russia and attached to the 9th Army as part of their armoured strength. They were first engaged in a pincer attack on Bialystok against the Soviet Union. The 9th Army later made the northern flank of the German attack on Moscow after encircling Soviet defenses. 1943 the 9th Army along with Fraatz’s division was to be the northern pincer at the battle of Kursk; it was around this time that both of his wound badges were earned. It was also during this time that his Assault Badge was earned. In December of 1942 his division attached to the 78th Assault Division, which was newly reinforced and charged with the defence of Poland. August 9th, 1944 was remodeled 70th Panzer Jaeger Division and charged with the last defense of Berlin. He earned his Panzer Badge on the 22nd of April, 1945, after having completed 25 missions.
