A silver Maltese cross with rays and a set of crossed swords coming from the center of the cross; the obverse with a red enameled central medallion depicting a gold crowned coat of arms of Reuss, surrounded by a gold ring; the reverse with a black enameled central medallion depicting a gold crowned royal cipher of Heinrich, surrounded by a gold ring; on a loop non-swivel crown and loop for suspension from its period original ribbon; measuring 42.50 mm (w) x 61.82 mm (h); weighing 29.3 grams with its ribbon; in overall better than extremely fine condition.

Dr. Goodwin had a successful career as an educator and prominent physician in New York as well as actively serving in both World Wars with the United States Medical Corps.
